How Do I Calibrate My Gas Detector?

How Do I Calibrate My Gas Detector?

At Frontline Safety we can take care of you, even after your purchase. Our Service Centre offers a calibration and repair service for your gas detection equipment. Calibrating your detector on a regular basis is crucial in ensuring that your gas monitor is fully operable and compliant.

In this guide, we'll show you the benefits of sending your gas detecting equipment to us where we'll professionally calibrate and service it.

It's important to never forget the importance of regularly calibrating gas detectors. Our article on the subject can be read here, and to quote the article:

"In simple terms, when we calibrate our gas detectors we’re resetting the sensor’s response against a known concentration of gas. To do so we use a calibration gas which will allow us to determine the relationship between the reading captured by the detector and the concentration of gas that it’s designed to alert us to."

Calibration can be done manually with a regulator, calibration gas, calibration cap and tubing

Most monitors require calibration every 6 months and some are annual, but this may vary depending on the application, manufacturer and even the environment. This can be done manually with a regulator, calibration gas, calibration cap and tubing. Or it can be done automatically with the use of a calibration docking station, such as the Galaxy GX2.

Automated calibration is possible using units such as the Galaxy GX2

The other option available to you is to return your unit to our Service Engineers at our Service Centre and we can carry out the calibration for you. Our manufacturer-trained engineers are also able to carry out servicing and repairs on your gas detector.
Returning your equipment to us is simple when you use the RMA. This is the Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) form required to be filled in, in order to book your equipment into our Service Department.

Professional Calibration of Gas Detectors - How to Send Yours to Frontline Safety

Fill in your company details, contact details and the date you expect your instrument to arrive with us.  If a member of our Sales team has previously quoted you for your service then refer to the quotation number on the RMA form.  You may have purchased calibration in advance when you purchased your detector so it's important you make us aware of this while filling out the RMA. Include the address you wish us to return the instrument to once it’s been completed, and when filling in the product information advise us of the manufacturer, model (including gas type) and the instrument's serial number.

Once you've completed the RMA form, print out a copy and ensure this is included with the gas detector when sending it to our service team.

Send your instrument to our Glasgow Service Centre - Frontline Safety, 200 Old Dalmarnock Road, Glasgow, G40 4DW. and ensure that the package is marked for the attention of ‘RMA Returns – Service Department’.
