UltraRAE 3000 - How to Perform a Zero Calibration

As a caveat to this instructions, please always check the manfucaturer’s guidelines regarding the frequency of bump tests and calibration, and always comply with site or company specific procedures.

UltraRAE 3000 calibration setup

To calibrate the UltraRAE 3000 you'll need:

  • the unit itself
  • calibration gas
  • test or calibration tubing
  • a flow regulator

To calibrate the UltraRAE 3000 follow these steps:

  • with the unit charged up, access the calibration menu by pressing and holding the middle and N buttons and then enter the passcode, which by default is set to 0000
  • once in the calibration menu you're presented with two choices; zero calibration and span calibration
    • choose zero calibration
  • making sure you're in a fresh air environment press the Y button to select "yes"
    • the unit will now zeros its sensors
  • make sure that the calibration gas you'll be using has the required volume of gas. Refer to the label on the gas bottle
    • in the case of the UltraRAE 3000 this quantity should be isobutylene of 100ppm
  • the device will now prompt you to start the flow of gas. Affix the tubing to the flow regulator and the sensor on the UltraRAE 3000
  • after a 30 second countdown the calibration will be complete
  • the unit will go into alarm, simple remove the tubing and the alarms will stop
