Drager PAS AirPack 1 - Carry Frame and Reducer

Please note that the image is for illustration purpose only - the image may differ from the actual product.

This particular product is a carry frame and reducer which is for use with the Drager PAS AirPack 1.

The Drager PAS AirPack 1 is ideal for use where an extended duration of breathing air is needed.  This is part of Drager’s range of heavy duty airline breathing apparatus and gives confidence that chemical tank cleaning, toxic spillages or certain tasks when working on offshore installations are all made easier.

Increased Freedom of Movement

The trolley mounted cylinder(s) provides uninterrupted air supply to the user through a hose reel.  A lightweight harness is needed, such as the Drager PAS Colt, during operation so the PAS AirPack 1 can be easily re-located and positioned in a safe zone in close proximity to the user’s working area.   This allows the wearer more freedom when moving around and also less stress and fatigue than they would be subjected to if they were to wear a conventional self contained breathing air apparatus unit.

A Well Thought out system

The Drager PAS AirPack 1 can accommodate up to four compressed air cylinders of up to 12 litres in capacity.  It is constructed from an anti-static powder coated steel material which protects against corrosion.  A 50 metre length of hose is supplied with Drager’s airline breathing apparatus as standard and can be extended to a length of 100 metres with a range of extension hoses.  Inadvertent damage can be kept to a minimum as the trolley hose reel connector is protected with a cover.  A winding handle is available to allow the hose to be easily re-wound onto the reel after use.  The braking system controls outgoing hose distribution and prevents unnecessary unwinding and potential entanglement.

Pneumatics

The PAS AirPack 1 benefits from a world renowned tried and tested pneumatics system which is also used on Drager’s successful PSS range of compressed breathing air apparatus.  This incorporates a safety pressure relief value and the pressure reducer is shrouded in a protective plate for additional safety.  Drager’s airline breathing apparatus has been ergonomically designed to facilitate ease of operation, general handling and mobility.

The following pneumatic elements are incorporated into the trolley module: the pressure reducer is suitable for connecting breathable quality air at an input pressure of either 200 or 300 bar, the pressure reducer is also suitable for supplying breathable quality air at an outlet medium pressure of 8bar nominal (6 to 10 bar) and the vent valves also allow independent charging if it’s an individual cylinder.  Other pneumatic elements are the high pressure (HP) gauge which indicates cylinder pressure and a medium pressure (MP) gauge which indicates cascade system or ring main pressure.

Safety Features

The PAS Airpack 1 has many safety features including a pressure relief valve to relieve medium pressure from air hoses and a whistle warning unit for high and medium pressure.  The high pressure unit indicates cylinder pressure to a volume of approximately 55 bar and the medium pressure unit, which is for use with independent airline sources, indicates cascade system or ring main pressure at approximately 4.5 bar.

Performance

The high performance pressure reducer assembly of Drager’s breathing air apparatus is incorporated in the main pneumatic manifold assembly located behind the control panel.

Functioning at inlet pressures of 200 or 300 bar the reducer provides a controlled outlet operating medium bar-pressure supply of 8 bar nominal (6 to 10 bar).  A pressure relief valve, incorporated into the manifold, ensures that any ‘over pressure’ (possible failure of the reducer) will not enter the medium pressure airline system.
