BW Solo Single Gas Detector - What Do I Need to Know?

We explore the main features and benefits of the BW Solo Gas Detector and what you should be aware of before buying it.  The Solo is available in a wide range of sensors including the following:

Hydrogen sulphide (H2S), Carbon monoxide (CO), Oxygen (O2), Sulphur dioxide, (SO2), Hydrogen (H2), Ammonia (NH3), Chlorine (Cl2), Nitrogen dioxide (NO2), Hydrogen cyanide (HCN), Ozone (O3), Ethylene oxide (ETO), Phosphine (PH3), Nitrogen oxide (NO), Chlorine dioxide (ClO2)

Lightweight & Easy to Use

The BW Solo uses 1-Series sensors which can last up to 5 years and the majority carry a three-year warranty.  The lifetime of the of the sensor will depend on gas exposure and other factors, depending on your application.  The Solo has been designed as a personal protection device and can be worn in the user’s breathing area.  It has an alligator clip on the back, so can be attached on to the wearer.  Like its predecessor the BW GasAlert Extreme, it’s lightweight and fits in the hand.  It's very easy to use and has one-button operation.  This will prevent any unauthorised users from changing settings or accidentally accessing menus.

Service & Calibration

In terms of maintenance, the BW Solo can be serviced every 6 months to ensure its compliant.  This is a manufacturer-recommendation.  Our Frontline Safety engineers can service the unit for you, or if you are manufacturer-trained then the unit is easily maintained.  Both the sensor and battery can be replaced with ease, simply remove the screw on the back of the unit to reach the battery and the calibration cap can be used to reach the sensors.

Wireless Connectivity

If you have purchased the wireless version of the BW Solo then it can be paired with your smartphone and the Honeywell Device Configurator App.  This allows you to set the detector up, change alarm set points and check bump and calibration data in field.

Triple Alarm System

The BW Solo's triple alarm system means you will be able to see, hear and feel the alarm of the gas detector should gas be present.  When it detects gas the LED lights around the edge of the detector will illuminate red.  It has a vibrating alarm and will also sound upon the presence of gas.
