Drager DrugCheck 3000 - How to Use It

Efficient, accurate drug checks are essential for many industries. With the Drager DrugCheck 3000 you can quickly test for many different drugs, however, using the device properly is key. This ensures accurate results. And now, with Drager's new app, you can get even more functionality. In this guide, with a video walkthrough, we'll explain how to use the DrugCheck 3000.

Always Follow the Instructions for the Drager DrugCheck 3000

Before starting a test, be sure to read over the instructional guide that Drager's has handily printed on the packaging of the DrugCheck 3000. Simply tear open the packaging and you'll find the components of the DrugCheck 3000. These are:

• a sampler
• the test cassette

Once the sampler has been removed from the test cassette you'll notice a coloured ring around it. This will be used to indicate that a sample has been taken.

How to Take a Sample with the Drager DrugCheck 3000

To take a sample, wipe the sampler around your mouth, under your tongue and your cheeks for around 10-15 seconds. Once the red ring on the sampler starts to discolour you can remove it. Now push the sample into the funnel on the top of the test cassette.

The file inside the cassette which houses the buffer solution should break, but ensure there’s no gap in between the sampler and the cassette. Now shake the cassette until the red ring around the sampler has completely discoloured. Once it has discoloured, hold the cassette upright or sit it on an even surface.

You can choose between a fast and a sensitive measurement for THC, as indicated on the packaging.  The waiting times are strict and must be adhered to to ensure an accurate test result. Information on wait times and limit values can be seen on the packaging.

After the wait time has passed remove the security tab to completely detach it and now push the sampler straight down into the test kit until it stops.

You can see from the window the various substances that can be tested:

• MET – methamphetamines
• AMP – Amphetamine
• THC – Cannabis
• OPI – Opiates
• COC – Cocaine, methamphetamines/designer drugs (e.g. Ecstasy, MDMA)
• Benzodiazepines (BZO)

Reading Test Results on the Drager DrugCheck 3000

The test will have now started. The control lines and test lines appear after 2-3 minutes, allowing you to read the results. If red lines appear in the viewing window in the upper control area labelled with C and alongside the substances tested then the test is valid and none of the 6 substances has been identified. If a red line appears in the control area but no line appears next to one of the substances then the test is positive and valid.

Storing and Sharing Test Results Using the Drager DrugCheck App

The results can then be recorded using the Drager DrugCheck App, available to download from the App Store and Google Play Store. To do this, firstly, the QR code on the app can be scanned to preload the serial number of the test used and the date of expiry.

Using the Camera on your device match the front of the test up with the guidelines and the app will automatically capture the data from the test. You can now enter the data of the person taking the test. The operator info can be pre-populated and the location of the test taken can also be selected. And results can be stored on the app and can also be emailed on a pdf.
