Health and Safety app to be developed by mobile technology company

UK company RNF Digital Innovation secure a £100,000 grant from TSB to develop app for health and safety professionals.

The grant was awarded by the Smart Fund from the Technology Strategy Board (TSB) which benefits companies who have innovative ideas and a drive to present their product to the marketplace.

RNF Digital Innovation is a high-growth company who fits this criterion and will use the grant to carry out feasibility studies, basic prototyping and specialist testing of the app.

It is hoped that the Health and Safety app will act as a cloud-based service, based on real time intelligent forms which will be fully compliant with Health and Safety legislation.

Those persons responsible for Health and Safety within an organisation will complete the forms on the app using a mobile, hand-held device therefor allowing management of Health and Safety to be carried out quickly and effectively. It also allows such tasks to be carried out in-house.

Rob Mannion is RNF’s Managing Director and hopes that the app will help with efficiency and reduce the need for hardware and the use of paper and also improve time management and internal communications within an organisation.

He said; “it will also reduce errors by minimising cycle times, entering data directly, automation of the process and use of up-to-date information by all staff. The cost of our service means that end users could save up to 50% of their Health and Safety spend, a huge saving for any company or organisation.”

Other apps currently listed on the Apple App Store include IConstructSafe which is a collection of short safety remind videos for construction professionals, the NIOSH Pocket Guide to Chemical Hazards and also Safety John which is a reporting app for Workplace Safety management.
