How to Use the ETI 7000 Moisture Meter

The ETI 7000 Moisture Meter is ideal for use by building professionals. It helps check a variety of different construction materials for moisture content. We'll walk you through the basic steps of using this meter.

Step 1

Firstly, connect an appropriate probe via the BNC socket located at the top of the instrument and then switch your instrument on. Ensure the probe is connected before switching your meter on.

Secondly, you should choose from the required mode, from the 5 different measurement scales by pressing the MODE button

  • Scale 1 – Wood
  • Scale 3 – Plaster
  • Scale 4 – Concrete
  • Scale 5 – Linear/Reference

The linear/reference can be used for all materials which are not covered by scales 1-4. You can also use the linear/reference scale to compare the material to a known dry sample.

Next, with the correct mode selected press the pins of the probe onto the surface, you are looking to measure. The reading will display on the screen and the colourful LED’s within the keypad will illuminate to indicate the moisture measurement. The LED displays in three colours: green - OK, amber - WARNING and red DAMP.

Finally, if you need to manually record the measurement you can freeze the reading you have taken, by pressing the HOLD button, until the word HOLD is displayed. Once you have recorded the measurement press the hold button again to continue measuring
