NEW - Honeywell BW RigRat Area Gas Detector

Find out what features and benefits this area gas detector can bring to your application.

The BW RigRat Area Gas Detector acts as an ideal balance between a portable personal gas detector and a fixed fire and gas system.  It is an ATEX-approved transportable gas detector with the primary function of alerting you to a gas leak within its proximity. Its main use is in applications where temporary zone monitoring, such as repair fence line is required.

Pumped and diffusion models are available, and it can house up to six interchangeable sensors. There is a selection of these monitors already available on the Frontline Safety website and you can view them here.

What gases does the BW RigRat detect?

There are currently over 15 sensors available for toxic gases, oxygen and combustibles for the RigRat:

Combustible Gases (IR / LEL)
Carbon Dioxide (CO2 and CO2 Extended Range)
Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC)
Carbon Monoxide (CO & CO Extended Range)
Carbon Monoxide – H2 Resistant
Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S and H2S Extended Range)
Sulphur Dioxide (SO2)
Oxygen (O2)
Nitric Oxide (NO)
Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2)
Hydrogen Cyanide (HCN)
Ammonia (NH3)
Chlorine (Cl2)

There are various ways to protect the RigRat during use in tough applications. The sturdy base and rugged handles make it easy to carry and place down in any weather.  It can also be secured to the ground if required. Additionally, a protective yellow cage can be purchased separately to ensure further protection is provided to the body of the gas detector.

How long does the battery last on the BW RigRat?

The RigRat has one of the longest runtimes of any transportable monitor at 8 weeks on a single charge. It has charging options for both safe areas and hazardous areas. The LCD display is clear and gas values and battery status can be seen at a glance.

Honeywell's BW RigRat operates on a double alarm system when alerted to the presence of gas. The bright LED lights can be seen on both sides of the monitor and will show green when compliant and safe or red when in alarm. A loud 108-decibal alarm will also sound to alert workers to hazardous gas in the air.

One of the most advanced features of the RigRat is its ability to connect to remote monitoring software. This allows you to see real time readings, continuously monitor from a different location and automate your administrative tasks.

There is also the option of connecting to other Honeywell equipment such as the TouchPoint Plus Controller or the MultiRAE personal gas detector. The Honeywell BW RigRat can connect to your smartphone through the device configurator app. From here you can view logs, remotely calibrate and edit alarm set points.

The BW RigRat is available to purchase from Frontline Safety today.
