The following gas detectors have been suggested by manufacturers as being suitable for applications within the iron and steel industry. Suitable detectors and applications may include carbon monoxide and combustible gas detectors for blast furnace operation & maintenance, coke oven & converter operation, furnace & gas pipeline leaks, carbon monoxide, combustible, hydrogen sulphide and sulphur dioxide for coking operations, nitric oxide and nitrogen dioxide for welding, and oxygen monitors for confined spaces (so long as they have the ability to carry our pre-entry checks). PID/VOC detectors may also be used for motor maintenance, cleaning and coke oven emissions.
