    Drager X-am 5000 Multi-Gas Detector

Dräger X-am 5000 Multi-Gas Detector – Configurable for Up to Five Gases

    A New Generation

The Drager X-am 5000 multi gas detector is part of a new generation of gas detectors which have been developed specifically for personal monitoring applications.  This 1 to 5 gas detector reliably measures combustible gases and vapours as well as O2 and harmful concentrations of O3, Cl2, CO, CO H2-CP, CO2, H2, H2S, HCN, NH3, NO, NO2, PH3, SO2, COCl2, organic vapours, Odorant and Amine.  The detector has an integrated data logger and comes with the manufacturer’s and calibration certificates.

    Ergonomic Mobile Phone Design

The design of the X-am 5000 5 gas detector is similar to that of a practical mobile phone.  Despite its advanced functionality, it is light in weight and comfortable to carry.  The detector uses a two-button control panel with a large display, showing readings at a glance and an easy to follow menu to allow for intuitive use.

Drager’s multi gas detector is resistant to water and dust ingress according to IP 67 standards.  Even if the device is dropped into water it will still remain fully functional.  Additional resistance to impact and vibration is provided by the integrated rubber protection and shock-proof sensors.

    Continuous gas detection

This 5 gas detector has 2 gas inlets on the top and bottom of the surface which is designed to make sure multi gas detection is continuous even if the device is covered or put inside a pocket.  Other features which can be of use is the visible 360° alarm and retro reflective labels which are used so the instrument is easily visible in the dark or in water.

    Durable Sensor Technology

Drager uses innovative technology in its sensors, equipped with durable XXS sensor technology.  To assist multi gas detection, dependable warnings are given in the event of explosive atmospheres thanks to the high level of sensitivity of the innovative catalytic Ex sensor.  This has a quick response to explosive gases and combustible organic vapours.  It is also highly resistant against sensor poisons such as silicone and hydrogen sulfide.

The sensors are easy to exchange, upgrade or calibrate to other gases.  This makes more applications possible, including rental equipment.  There is a long expected sensor lifetime of more than 4 years which is beneficial in reducing your operational costs.

    Other Features and Accessories

The Drager X-am 5000 is compatible with various other accessories including an external pump, the Drager X-zone 5000 and Drager E-Cal automatic test and calibration station and the Drager Bump Test Station.

The optional external pump external pump, which operates with a hose up to 98 feet long, makes it possible to use the detector for pre-entry measurements into confined spaces such as tanks and shafts.

The multi gas detector can be used with the Drager X-zone 5000 for various area monitoring applications.  Up to 25 Drager X-zone 5000 units can be automatically interconnected to form a wireless fence line. This interconnection of the area monitoring devices allows for the fast securing of larger areas, e.g. pipelines or industrial tanks – even within the scope of industrial shutdowns.

The automatic test and calibration station and bump test station allow fresh air, mixed gas and single gas calibrations to be done directly using the X-am 5000 menu.  Both of these system extensions can save time and reduce workload.

    Flexible Power Supply

In terms of power supply standard alkaline or rechargeable NilMh batteries can be used with the Drager X-am 5000.  Alternatively, a T4 battery can be fitted and can be charged whilst still inside the instrument.  There is an optional Save Energy Mode available which is beneficial in increasing the operating time of the detector to more than 40 hours.
