Fire Detection Systems

Frontline Safety provides a variety of fire detection solutions for industrial and commercial applications.  At Frontline Safety our engineers specialise in developing fire detection system to suit the specific requirements of industrial and large commercial applications.  This includes office and administration buildings through to pharmaceutical and petrochemical process and storage facilities.

We can offer you a range of different services to complement your fire detection systems. Our fire detection case studies will demonstrate how these additional services have worked for other clients.

Control Panels

Control Panels

Frontline Safety provides a range of Addressable, Non-addressable (conventional), Wireless, and 2 Wire Fire Alarm Control Panels. All fire alarm control panels, regardless of the type, operate on a very similar philosophy. They receive signals from fire detectors (be they smoke or heat detectors or manual alarm call points) and activate audible/visual warning devices to alert personnel to the potential danger. A fast response from the control panel ensures the maximum available time with which to effect an evacuation of the premises.

From small single room fire systems to large multi-area installations, we can advise on the most appropriate type of control panel to provide effective monitoring of your specific fire alarm system. A range of ancillary devices is available to complement our fire alarm panels, for example specialist modules are available that allow the system to extend the number of sounder circuits, provide switched outputs to shut-down, for example, ventilation systems, or receive inputs signals from third party systems. All of the fire alarm control panels are supplied with user friendly operating instructions and full training on the operation and maintenance of the system can be provided.

Aspirated Detection Systems

Aspirated Detection Systems

Smoke detection is regarded as one of the most sensitive means of automatic detection, and aspirated detection systems are the most sensitive of these. Aspirated detection systems work by using a pump and dedicated pipework to draw a sample of air (and any resident smoke particles) across a very sensitive smoke detector.

Aspirated detection systems are often referred to as “high sensitivity” or “very early” smoke detection systems. Some product names have become parlance for this type of detector and although there are subtle differences between manufacturers the principle of operation is very similar.

Our dedicated team of Service Engineers and Project Engineers are able to provide you with more information on these systems to suit your specific demands. Call us now on 0141 771 7749 to discuss your requirements.

Fire Detectors

Fire Detectors

Detectors for fire alarm systems are generally described as automatic or manually activated.

Automatic detectors are then divided into five key types:

-  Smoke (point or beam) detectors
-  Heat (point or linear heat detection cable) detectors
-  Flame (Infra-red, Ultraviolet, or combined UV/IR)
-  Carbon Monoxide
-  Multi-sensor (a single unit combining the detection
principles of smoke and heat detectors)

Manually activated fire detectors are commonly referred to a break-glass units or manual alarm call points and work when someone presses the frangible element of the unit that activates a switch within the device. Although still commonly referred to as “break-glass units” most version available now have a resettable flexible element that needs only to be pressed rather than broken.

Selection of the correct type of fire detector is key in minimising the potential for false alarm within the system. Frontline Safety engineers can advise on the most appropriate type of detector for your application.
