The MSA S-Cap Fire Escape Hood is designed to protect people endangered by the smoke and gases generated by fires, including carbon monoxide. It protects the eyes, head and respiratory tract, allowing users to rescue themselves with little risk, and is also suited to rescue teams assisting in the evacuation of people, even if they are unconscious. The hood can improve safety in places such as residential areas, hospitals, retirement homes, hotels and office buildings.
The bright yellow hood has a wide lens for a large field of vision. An integrated nose cup adapts to a range of head and face sizes, a multipurpose filter protects against a wide variety of gases, and an exhalation valve aids breathing comfort. The adjustable head harness tightens for a secure fit. The hood material, harness and lens are resistant to heat and short flame contact, and a light cotton neck seal keeps the hood easy to don, even for spectacle wearers. The S-Cap complies with the revised European standard EN 403:2004.
The hood is effective within seconds with no specific procedure to carry out, and the filter is designed for a service time of 15 minutes, depending on the concentration of contaminants. The S-Cap is for single use. It is available in a cardboard box, a pouch, a luminescent wall box and a pack of 3.
