Product description

MSA SSR 90 Oxygen Self-Rescuer (Class K60)

The MSA SSR 90 is an oxygen self rescuer which supplies the user with oxygen generated from a chemical (KO2).  This is done through a closed circuit in which the exhalation air of the user is regenerated and enriched with oxygen.  The carbon dioxide and humidity of the exhalation air reacts with the chemical, whereby carbon dioxide is removed and oxygen is generated by the MSA self rescuer.  This will always be generated according to the demand of the wearer, e.g. at heavy workloads and intensive breathing more oxygen will be generated.

The SSR 90 is encased in a solid stainless steel container which is also air-tight and sealed by the factor.  It can be donned quickly in an emergency and operates immediately.  There is low maintenance needed and it can be reconditioned after use.

The MSA self rescuer can be applied in instances where the user is exposed to toxic gases and oxygen deficiency during gas outbursts, fires and explosions.  The worldwide proven principle of generating the oxygen from a chemical assures the user that in an emergency the SSR 90 will provide enough oxygen for self-rescue.  Rescue teams can also carry additional apparatus in order to quickly provide breathable air to the persons being rescued.

According to EN 401 and German Mining Approval the service time at 35 l/min is 60 minutes (class K 609).  The service time at medium work load (e.g. escape) is approx. 90 minutes and at low ventilation rates (e.g. waiting for rescue) approx. 5 hours.
