Where Do I Find the Serial Number on My Portable Gas Detector?

This quick guide will help you to easily identify the unique serial number on your gas detector.  The serial number is often used to check the warranty status of your detector, order replacement parts or contact manufacturer support.  It is especially crucial in maintaining compliance and inspection records as it will help attribute any services, calibrations and repairs to your gas detector.

What Does the Serial Number Look Like?

The format of the serial number will differ from manufacturer to manufacturer and from detector to detector. It may be clearly marked as ‘SN or S/N’ and is often found on a label attached to the rear of the detector, below or beside a barcode and may feature as a combination of letters and numbers.

Although the below guide should reference most brands and corresponding serial numbers, please be aware that depending on the model and year of manufacture the serial number letters and numbers may differ slightly.

Important: there may be other references on the label alongside the serial number, so take care not to confuse the serial number with model numbers, part numbers (SKU), firmware versions or asset tags.
