The Drager X-am 5600 uses innovative infrared sensor technology and an ergonomic design to make it the smallest gas detection instrument for measuring up to 6 different gases.
This multi gas detector is designed to be light and easy to use, making it ideal for personal monitoring applications.
The tough and water-tight detector gives precise, consistent measurements of explosive, combustible and toxic gases and vapours as well as oxygen. This also allows for single-hand operation in the toughest industrial environments. As well as being waterproof, this 6 gas detector is IP 67 tested, also making it dustproof. The instrument comes with an integrated rubber boot which provides optimum functionality even in tough conditions.
Drager’s small and reliable multi gas detector is suitable for use in areas which where explosive atmospheres (zone 0 areas) are always to be expected.
Durable Infrared Technology
The advanced technology Drager uses for their infrared sensors not only reduces the cost of ownership considerably but the sensors can be generally used for up to eight years. This is due to the fact less replacement sensors are needed. In addition to this a sensor calibration is only needed every 12 months which also reduces maintenance costs.
To assure the user that the infrared sensors are continuously operating, a visual life signal will be shown. This is in addition to a visible 360° alarm.
Accurate Measurement Results
These sensors can also be used to measure explosive substances or carbon dioxide. The infrared sensor IR Ex allows the measurement of explosive, combustible hydrocarbons in the range of the lower explosive limit. With this sensor, measurements in the range of 0-100 Vol.-% for methane, propane and ethylene are also possible. The infrared sensor IR CO2, with a measurement resolution of 0.01 Vol.-%, provides safe and exact measurements as well as a warning against toxic concentrations of carbon dioxide in the ambient air. For those applications where the reliable measurement of explosive substances and CO2 is specifically needed, the advantages of both can be achieved by a dual sensor (Dual IR CO2/Ex).
Also In Combination With Hydrogen
Another feature of the X-am 5600 which is beneficial in multi gas detection is the combination of two sensor signals which allow reliable hydrogen detection. Sensors which are based on infrared technology do not warn against hydrogen explosion dangers so this combination highlights this. The detector provides the advantages of poison-free technology to be used in areas where, until now, only catalytic Ex sensors have been used.
To meet the needs of different applications, the sensors can easily be exchanged, calibrated or converted using the PC software Drager X-am 5600 Drager CC-Vision.
Flexible Use
The X-am 5600 multi gas detector has a simple two-button control panel which allows for intuitive use of the instrument. There are two gas inlets on the upper and front side. These gives an accurate measurement even if the inlets are accidently covered.
To make multi gas detection easier for the user the instrument has a large display, making readings easier to see. It also has retro reflectors which make the device easy to find in the dark or in water.
Other monitoring possibilities are the detection of explosive, combustible and harmful concentrations of O2, Cl2, CO, CO2, H2, H2S, HCN, NH3, and NO, NO2, PH3, SO2, Amine, Odorant, COC 2 and organic vapours.
Optional Products
There are optional products available for the X-am 5600 6 gas detector. An optional external pump is available which is ideal for pre-entry measurements in tanks or pipelines. To monitor entire areas Drager’s multi gas detector can be used in combination with Drager X-zone 5000. The Drager Bump Test Station and Drager E-Cal automatic test and calibration station are both ideal system extensions that can save cost and time.
The Drager X-am 5600 6 gas detector has power supply units available to the user. The power pack and charging set consists of rechargeable NiMH power supply T4, charging module, a single charger and also an alkaline power pack.
